What is Temporary Transit ?

Temporary Transit (TT) is an interesting alternative to car rental in Europe.
It is a French customs and tax provision based on the temporary admission regime. It allows any person residing outside the European Union or in an Overseas Department or Territory, to have a new vehicle at their disposal during their stay in Europe and to acquire it, exempt from customs duties and VAT.
You thus benefit from a specific French registration allowing free movement in Europe (excepted Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Kossovo, Moldova, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom).

Who can benefit from temporary transit car-2-europe?

To get car-2-europe temporary transit you have to fulfill the following conditions:
You hold a valid driving license.
You live in France’s overseas departments/territories or outside the European Union.
You have spent less than 180 days in European Union countries over the 12 past months.
You do not have a professional activity inside European Union.
To be eligible for temporary transit car rental, you must be:
A TOURIST
Completing an internship or assignment but the usual place of residence is outside European Union or in France’s overseas departments/territories
Any person whose usual place of residence is outside European Union or in France’s overseas departments/territories

How long can I reserve a vehicle for?

Our vehicles are available from 14 days to 6 months.

A fixed price will be applied between 14 and 30 days. Beyond this period, the price will depend on the duration of the contract.

Attention!
Vehicles in temporary transit can only circulate in Portugal for a maximum of 90 days .
Customers who take delivery of their vehicles in Portugal and return them to Portugal cannot have a contract of more than 90 days.
 

Before your reservation

How can you book a vehicle?

You can book your TT car directly on the website if you live in an eligible country for online booking, or from your local Car-2-europe representative.
You will have to sign an order form containing all the necessary information for your booking (type of vehicle, any accessories, dates and places of delivery and return, flight details for airport deliveries, etc.) and to add the following documents to confirm your booking:
Passport (or identity card for French overseas departments/territories)
Holiday certificate stating holiday dates
Certificate of residence (for French people)

What is the deadline to book a car?

The Booking should be made 30 days minimum before the delivery of your car.

What is the period of time to treat your quote ?

Your business agent will answer your quote request as soon as possible (usually within 48 hours).
You can get in touch also directly with him by email or phone.

What are the delivery and return fees?

In France the delivery and return of the vehicle is free (as well for Geneva)
In the rest of Europe, fees differ according to the country.

What type of payment cards are accepted?

For online booking, you can pay with Visa, Mastercard or American Express. (Payments only by credit card)
If you order through the car-2-europe representative in your country, they will tell you the types of payment accepted.

In which countries can I travel ?

It is possible to travel with our vehicles in the following countries:

Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus (Greek part), Croatia, Denmark, Spain (including the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands), Estonia, Finland, Metropolitan France (including Corsica), Greece (mainland and Crete), Hungary, Ireland, Italy (including Sardinia and Sicily), Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal (including Madeira and the Azores), Principality of Andorra, Principality of Monaco, Principality of San Marino, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican.

These countries are covered by Car-2-Europe insurance and assistance.

No off-road vehicle can circulate in the United Kingdom.

During your reservation

Can I choose the color of my car?

No, you cannot choose the color of your car, it is difficult for us to guarantee it.

Will the vehicle have a safety Kit ?

For all deliveries made in France, a security kit will be provided with the vehicle.

Will I have to pay vehicle accessories?

While booking your car, you can add accessories. The price of each depends on the vehicle chosen. The request for an accessory must appear on the order form and it cannot be ordered after the delivery phase.

Please note, since 2021, due to European C02 regulations linked to the mass of automobiles, new vehicles are no longer produced with a spare wheel.

Does the ordered vehicle comes with snow tires?

The snow-tire chains that we propose are easily mounted without the necessity of a specialist.
The initial tires created don’t suit extreme conditions involving the presence of large amounts of snow and/or water.
Car-2-europe cannot mount special tires such as "snow" tires on its vehicles. If you decide to equip your vehicle with special tires, you can do it at your expense and you will have to return the car with the original tires.
Important Note:
Customers are responsible for meeting all legal requirements in each country.

After your reservation

What are the documents I must give to collect my car?

To collect your vehicle, you have to show your passport (or ID for French people), your driving license and your Car-2-Europe contract.
For students and trainees you must also show your visa and residents permit.

How the delivery phase proceed ?

You must arrive at the collection location at the time specified when you booked. Or – contact them at least 4 working days before your arrival to make or change your appointment time. Warning: For appointments without flight details, you must arrive within 30minutes of the scheduled collection time. If there is a change of flight or an appointment schedule, you must inform the delivery center.

Who can pick up the vehicle ?

Only the contract holder may take delivery of the vehicle or his spouse / partner with a special authority letter and proof that you reside together.

Can Car2europe deliver the car wherever I want?

Car-2-Europe will provide vehicles only at the Centers listed on our website. All vehicles are supplied at airports.
You can choose from 20 centers in 6 European countries.

Does my car get delivered with some fuel?

Your vehicle comes with a fuel supply of 10 to 15 liters, which allows you to easily drive to the nearest service station. If you want to have a full tank, please choose the accessory "fuel" during your booking.

How the return phase proceed?

It is important to make an appointment with your return center at least 4 working days in advance. The vehicle must be returned to one of the Car-2-Europe centers. Otherwise, you will be charged. Warning : they will wait for you for 30 minutes maximum beyond the time that you will have chosen. The vehicle must be returned to the place indicated on your contract. In the case where the vehicle is returned to another center, a fee will be charged.

How can I know if my payment has been accepted ?

When you book you will receive a confirmation email.
In case of payment failure, your booking request will appear on your booking records in your account. You will have a 48 hour period to pay it. Otherwise, your booking will be automatically cancelled.
(Payment only by credit card)

Can I cancel my order after payment?

In order to cancel your booking, please send a request to contactcar2europe@stellantis.com

Cancellation fees are fixed at 1000€ if the vehicle is already registered, or 300€ for a non-registered vehicle,
for a cancellation requested within 30 days of departure.
If the cancellation is requested more than 30 days before departure, no cancellation fee will be applied,
and the Client will be fully refunded for the amounts paid.

How can I know if my order has been approved?

When you complete the booking process you will receive an email with your contract.

How can I get the delivery/return map?

To get the delivery and drop off centers map, you can click on the heading "CENTERS" on the website. We also communicate GPS information.

During the contract

Who can drive the vehicle?

To drive in Europe, you need to be at least 18 years old and have a driving license that is valid in the countries you will be visiting.
The following people can drive the vehicle:
The contract holder (his/her name is entered on the registration certificate)
The spouse (in the broadest sense, including partners or civil partners subject to presentation of evidence of this union)
and the children.
Others cannot use the vehicle.
The vehicle cannot be used for any professional purposes.
The international driving license must be with the national driving license at all times.

How can I extend my contract ?

Careful! The callback number will start with 09!
• When?: No later than 4 working days before the end of your contract.
An answer will be communicated to you by email in priority, during the time
slot of CAR-2-EUROPE from Monday to Thursday from 8:30 to 16:00 and
Friday from 8:30 to 15:30 (except French holidays).

Can I return my vehicle in advance ?

The following conditions must be met for partial refund for the unused days:
Return date at least 8 days before the end of the contract
For contracts of less than 30 days, no refund is possible
Regardless of the circumstances, 20% of the initial contract will be retained
For students, the expected return must take place 30 days before the end of the contract to give rise to a partial refund.
In case of contract extension, refunds are not provided if you return the vehicle early.

How can I change the place of return ?

Call Car-2-Europe at least 4 working days before the end of your contract. This service is available from Monday to Thursday (except holidays) from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

Car-2-europe will send you the map for the new center chosen by e-mail or fax. This map is also available on the website in the "centers" part.
For drop-offs outside France (except Geneva), this change will entail a supplementary cost payable by credit card to Car-2-Europe.

I travel to a country not covered by insurance, what happens ?

If you decide to go to a country not covered by insurance / assistance, you incur your civil and criminal liability and will have to pay all costs related to an accident or breakdown. No territorial extension is possible in the insurance contract.

At the end of the contract

Can I buy my car ?

During your stay, Car2Europe offers you the opportunity to extend your driving experience by purchasing your vehicle permanently under advantageous conditions or by sharing this opportunity with your loved ones by reselling it to them. This can be an excellent solution if you want to have a vehicle for your next stay. This offer, exclusively reserved for our clientele, comes with numerous benefits such as immediate availability of a vehicle, a preferential discount rate, maintained warranty and assistance, as well as a direct purchase from the manufacturer.

In the case of purchasing the vehicle, you may enjoy a discount of up to 25% off the current France catalog price at the time of sale.

Please note that you will be responsible for paying the VAT for Metropolitan France or local taxes for other registration countries.

At the end of the contract, can I keep the accessories?

All accessories offered are licensed by Peugeot.
We are prohibited from supplying accessories outside the Peugeot Network.
All accessories are the property of the customer who may opt to keep them at the end of the contract.

Does the vehicle have to be returned with it's original tires ?

The vehicle must be returned in the same condition it was delivered in. Although it is possible to keep accessories, the initial tires must be returned.

Which documents should I return with the vehicle ?

At the end of your contract you have to give at your drop off center:
- The vehicle registration certificate
- The 2 keys to the vehicle
- The vehicle maintenance booklet
- The insurance certificate
- The safety kit: safety vest and triangle
Important: All non-returned items will be debited from your bank account.
The representative of the return center will ask you to sign a duplicate copy of the vehicle receipt (French-English) stating the vehicle’s mileage and any returned or missing items. You will keep a copy of this document.

Insurance and assistance

In Case of problems (Theft,Accident...) what should I do ?

We advise you to check your travel book.
Step 1: fill in the necessary documents
In case of an accident: fulfill an accident report with the parties involved
In case of attempted theft or act of vandalism: get a detailed police report
Step 2: open an insurance file

Step 3: repairing the vehicle
In case of an accident or attempted theft or act of vandalism that requires repairs: bring the vehicle to a Peugeot authorized repair garage.

Which countries are covered by insurance and car2europe assistance ?

Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus (Greek part), Croatia, Denmark, Spain (including the Balearic and Canary Islands), Estonia, Finland, Metropolitan France (including Corsica), Mainland Greece .and Crete, Hungary, Ireland, Italy (including Sardinia and Sicily), Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal (including Madeira and Azores), Principality of Andorra, Principality of Monaco, Principality of San Marino, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican.

No off-road vehicles can operate in the United Kingdom.

Beyond these countries, the client will assume full liability, material and criminal incidents that may occur.

It is essential for the Client to adhere to this list. If in doubt, the Client is urged to contact us directly before undertaking any travel.
 

In which cases am I covered by my insurance?

The car-2-europe contract offers, in all European countries covered, comprehensive insurance without excess, including the following guarantees:
Civil liability of the driver (including vis-à-vis passengers transported free of charge)
Vehicle fire
Theft of the vehicle (subject to reporting to the police)
Broken glass
Damage to all accidents to the vehicle, including by act of vandalism (subject to notification to the police)
Legal protection
Driver's warranty

What maintenance does a TT vehicle need ?

All our vehicles are new. The first service shall take place at 20,000 kms. This service is not free and must be performed by a representative of the Stellantis network. It is also recommended to check the level of oil; water and tire pressure at least every 1,000kms.
